ICDPASO Secretariat Visited the Fourth Civil Division of China’s Supreme People’s Court

Beijing, 1 December 2025 - Mr. Jason CHIA, Secretary-General of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) led a delegation to visit the Fourth Civil Division of China’s Supreme People’s Court (SPC). Present at the meeting were SHEN Hongyu, Chief Judge of the Fourth Civil Division of the SPC, LONG Fei, Director of the Coordination and Guidance Office for the China International Commercial Court of the SPC, REN Ling, Staff Member of the Coordination and Guidance Office for the China International Commercial Court of the Supreme People's Court, and ZHANG Wei, Head of the General Office.


Secretary-General Jason CHIA systematically introduced the basic positioning and functions of ICDPASO as an international organization in carrying out dispute prevention and settlement work. He also focused on reviewing the initial results made over the past five years since its establishment, covering aspects such as the construction of a one-stop dispute prevention and settlement mechanism, the integrated development of law and business, participation in international governance and international rule-making, and the training of professional talents. Chief Judge SHEN Hongyu

, in reviewing the historical development of the International Commercial Court and the establishment of ICDPASO, affirmed the positive role ICDPASO has played in enhancing the efficiency of commercial dispute resolution, advancing the construction of dispute prevention mechanisms, and promoting international legal and commercial cooperation. She also expressed her expectation for ICDPASO to play a more significant role in serving the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and advancing the development of foreign-related rule of law. Director LONG Fei outlined the progress of The China International Commercial Court’s (CICC) operations. Both parties held discussions on establishing a regular communication mechanism, integrating arbitration, mediation and judicial processes into the diversified dispute resolution framework for foreign-related commercial disputes, preventing and resolving commercial disputes in emerging fields, personnel exchanges, collaborative conferences and events, as well as joint research.


In addition, both sides exchanged in-depth views on the implementation of the "Opinions of the Supreme People's Court on Advancing the High-Quality Development of International Commercial Courts to Serve and Safeguard a High Level of Opening Up". The Opinion clearly proposes to "increase cooperation with relevant international organizations such as the International Organization for Mediation and the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization, and promote the professionalization, standardization, and internationalization of China's commercial mediation organizations", providing important guidance for both parties to deepen cooperation.
