Renmin University of China Law School and the Institute of Foreign-Related Rule of Law Visited the Secretariat of ICDPASO

Beijing, September 22, 2025-Professor DU Huanfang, Dean of the Institute of Foreign-Related Rule of Law of Renmin University of China, Professor WAN Yong, Vice Dean of Renmin University of China Law School, and Ms ZENG Huiyuan, Administrative Director of the Institute of the Institute of Foreign-Related Rule of Law, visited the Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO). Postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, and master's students specialising in foreign-related legal studies conducted in-depth exchanges with ICDPASO Secretariat staff on topics such as the cultivation of foreign-related rule of law talents, the innovation of international commercial rules, and the practice of dispute settlement mechanisms.
Mr. Jason CHIA, the Secretary-General of ICDPASO, welcomed the delegation from the Renmin University of China Law School and the Institute of Foreign-Related Rule of Law. He emphasized that as China deepens its participation in global governance, foreign-related legal work has become a crucial component of national legal system development. He stated that providing legal services to commercial entities in Belt and Road countries through international organizations is a key initiative in advancing foreign-related legal efforts. Cultivating legal talent with a global perspective and familiarity with international rules is of great significance for effectively addressing international commercial disputes and serving high-level opening-up. ICDPASO is committed to offering one-stop dispute resolution services that combine "Prevention and Mediation" and "Prevention and Arbitration", and looks forward to collaborating with universities to promote the adoption and application of relevant mechanisms.
Mr. ZHONG Yuan, Director of Case Management at ICDPASO , provided a detailed introduction to ICDPASO’s basic information, core business, rule features, and representative cases.
During the discussion, the participants engaged in exchanges on topics such as ICDPASO’s institutional positioning, rule innovation, resource channels, participation in international governance, and participation in the formulation of international standards.
Professor WAN Yong, representing the Law School at the ICDPASO Open Day event, expressed gratitude for this exchange opportunity and shared his cutting-edge research findings in the field of intellectual property law. He emphasised that the collaboration between the Law School and ICDPASO is a process of progressive deepening, and looks forward to building upon this visit as a starting point to foster substantive cooperation in joint research, field expansion, and talent exchange.
In the concluding remarks, Professor DU Huanfang pointed out that strengthening the construction of foreign-related rule of law is not only related to national interests and the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises, but also an indispensable path for participating in global governance. He said that this visit has not only enhanced the students' understanding of international dispute settlement mechanisms, but also provided a valuable platform for connecting legal education with practice. Faced with the increasingly complex international economic and trade environment, proficiently mastering and applying international rules and dispute settlement mechanisms is of great significance for enhancing China's international discourse power and optimizing the business environment.
