ICDPASO Secretariat Exchanges Views with Guangdong Public Legal Officer Delegation on Foreign-Related Legal Capacity

Beijing, September 11, 2025 - the delegation from the Guangdong Province Training Program for Enhancing the Capabilities of Government-Employed Lawyers in Foreign-Related Legal Affairs visited the Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) and exchanged views with the ICDPASO Secretariat on the role of international organizations in foreign-related legal work and hot issues concerning foreign-related legal compliance.


Mr. Jason CHIA, the Secretary-General of ICDPASO, delivered a welcome speech focusing on the important role of government-employed lawyers in foreign-related legal work and ICDPASO’s one-stop legal services for dispute resolution. He emphasized that the advancement of foreign-related legal work imposes higher requirements on the training of government-employed lawyers, and cultivating foreign-related legal talents  is of great significance in promoting global trade and resolving international trade disputes under current circumstances. ICDPASO is willing to collaborate with the participants to promote the one-stop dispute prevention and resolution mechanism. He expressed hope that the participants would deepen their understanding of international commercial rules and dispute resolution mechanisms through this communication and fully utilize ICDPASO’s "Prevention and Mediation" and "Prevention and Arbitration" model clauses to resolve international disputes. ICDPASO is willing to support Guangdong Province in carrying out work related to foreign-related legal construction and promoting the business environment by virtue of its regional and policy advantages, so as to jointly build a new height and demonstration benchmark for China’s opening-up and foreign-related legal construction in the new era.  



Mr. Zhong Yuan, Director of Case Management at ICDPASO , provided a detailed introduction to ICDPASO’s basic information, core business, rule features, and representative cases.  



During the discussion, the participants engaged in exchanges on topics such as ICDPASO’s institutional positioning, rule innovation, resource channels, cross-border enforcement of arbitration awards, and participation in the formulation of international standards.


This training program is organized by the Law School of Renmin University of China. In the concluding remarks, Mr. Li Xiuqi, Director of the Training Office of the Law School at Renmin University of China, pointed out that cultivating foreign-related legal talents  is a strategic initiative to strengthen China’s participation in global governance and safeguard national interests as well as the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises. This exchange is not only a learning opportunity but also an important practical engagement. In the face of uncertainties in the current international economic and trade environment, mastering and utilizing international rules and dispute prevention and resolution mechanisms such as those offered by ICDPASO is crucial for Guangdong Province to effectively warn against foreign-related legal risks, enhance international perspective,efficiently resolve international commercial disputes, and continuously optimize a market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment.
