The Law Association for Asia and the Pacific Visited International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization

BEIJING, June 9, 2025 -The Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA) President Mr. Shyam Divan, President-Elect Mr. Yap TeongLiang, Secretary-General Mr. Gordon Hughes, Executive Member Ms. Ning Zhu, Co-chair of LAWASIA One Belt One Road Committee Mr. Shang Congcong and Mr. Jeff Leong, paid a visit to the Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO).

Mr. Jason CHIA, Secretary-General of the ICDPASO, extended a warm welcome to the LAWASIA delegation, and provided an overview of ICDPASO's progress in areas such as dispute prevention and resolution, global governance, and event organization. During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on issues of mutual concern, including international commercial dispute prevention, enhancing the level of dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific region, international rule-making, practices in the integration of law and business, and the application of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). They also exchanged views on matters such as recommend experts to each other, training and event organisation, and information sharing. Both sides agreed to fully leverage their respective resources and professional strengths to maintain close ties and engage in practical cooperation across multiple fields to promote the development of inter-regional legal affairs.
