The Parallel Forum "Rule of Law and Opening-Up" of Global Business and Law Conference 2024 Was Successfully Held in Beijing

On September 27, 2024, the Global Business and Law Conference 2024was held by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Beijing. During the event, the "Rule of Law and Opening-up" Parallel Forum of the Global Business and Law Conference was organized by the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC). Under the theme of " Dispute Resolution and Global Economic Win-win", the Parallel forum was attended by nearly 300 representatives from the global business community, universities, law firms, arbitration and mediation and other legal services, as well as representatives of local and industrial sub-councils of CCPIT in person.

Ms. LI Qingshuang, Vice Chairperson of CCPIT and Ms. Maria Chiara Malaguti, President of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) delivered opening remarks. Mr. Hamid Sharif, Expert Member of International Commercial Expert Committee of the Supreme People's Court of China (SPC) and Former Director (People's Republic of China) of the Asian Development Bank, Ms. Dato’ Mary Lim Thiam Suan, Director of the Asian International Arbitration Center, Mr. XI Xiangyang, Judge of the Fourth Civil Division of the SPC and Judge of the China International Commercial Court, and Mr. KANG Yu, Secretary-General of the Belt and Road International Lawyers Association delivered keynote speeches. During the Panel Discussion, Mr. GU Yan, Vice President of the Arbitration Court of CIETAC, Mr. Chuan Wee Meng, CEO of Singapore International Mediation Center, Mr. HU Zhenjie, General Counsel and General Manager of Legal Compliance Department of Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd., Mr. DONG Gang, Chairman of Morgan Stanley International (China) Limited, Mr. CAI Weiping, Deputy Director of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Center engaged in a discussion and exchange of views on “Progressing Steadily: Institutional Opening-up Promoting Global Economic Development”.

Mr. WANG Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CIETA, Ms. SHEN Peilan, Secretary-General of ICDPASO and Mr. WANG Han, Expert member of the International Commercial Expert Committee of the SPCand Executive Director of the Legal Research Center on Foreign Affairs of Northwest University of Political Science and Law presided over the sessions of the opening ceremony, keynote speech, and panel discussion.
