SHEN Peilan, the Secretary-General of ICDPASO delivered a keynote speech at 2024 ZGC Forum“Global Forum on Intellectual Property Protection and Innovation”

The Global Forum on Intellectual Property Protection and Innovation, a parallel forum to the ZGC Forum, was successfully convened in Beijing on April 25,2024. The Forum hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and focused on the theme of  “Digital Intelligent Era: Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development”, attracting a large number of experts and scholars from intellectual property relevant authorities and international intellectual property organizations. Ms. SHEN Peilan, the Secretary-General of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) was invited to delivered a keynote speech on intellectual property dispute settlement  in the intelligent digital era.

Ms. SHEN Peilan noted that the rapid advancement of digital intelligence technology has presented unprecedented new opportunities for the technology creation, dissemination and utilization of intellectual property rights. It has also brought forth new challenges for resolving the intellectual property disputes. In Digital Intelligent Era, ADR is playing an increasingly important role. From a global perspective, court litigation remains the primary mechanism for intellectual property dispute settlement. However, in recent years, the digital and smart economies have spurred the emergence of ADR including mediation and arbitration.These approaches have gained favored by various countries and parties due to their advantages such as respecting party autonomy, information confidentiality, flexible procedures, expert judgment, and cross-border enforcement, in which it deeply meets the various needs of intellectual property in terms of confidentiality, professionalism, and international scope. ICDPASO will continue to promote the establishment of international rules in the field of intellectual property and the innovative development of intellectual property dispute resolution providing comprehensive services for the intellectual property dispute prevention and settlement for global commercial entities.
