Meeting between the Renmin University of China and the Secretariat of International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization

On January 9, 2023, Dr. LIU Chao, Secretary General the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO), Ms. WEI Qing Director of the General Affairs Department , Ms. GU Wanning, and Ms. XIA Ying, Project Director of ICDPASO participated in a meeting with Renmin University of China (RUC) (Member of ICDPASO Advisory Committee). Prof. WANG Yi, Vice President of RUC, Prof. DU Huanfang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the RUC Law School, Prof. HUANG Wenyi, Dean of the RUC Law School, Prof. YE Lin, Executive Director of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Institute (ICDPASI), Associate Professor PENG Xiaolong, Secretary General of ICDPASI, and Associate Professor ZHANG Wenliang, Secretary General of ICDPASI, Prof. HAN Liyu (online) and Assistant Professor WU Zhicheng (online) represented RUC participated in this meeting.

Prof. WANG Yi warmly welcomed the ICDPASO Secretariat to RUC and said that RUC has made remarkable achievements in discipline construction and 11 disciplines including law, entered the leading disciplines list, which has laid a good foundation for the cooperation with ICDPASO. Prof. HUANG Wenyi expressed that RUC Law School and ICDPASO had cooperated well, and RUC Law School will continue to support ICDPASO and promote ICDPASO globalizing further. Dr. LIU Chao said that since ICDPASO was born, on the basis of realities and with a broad vision, ICDPASO has established the charter and rules, recruited staff, and carried out works in a solid and orderly manner with the support and help of its members. Now ICDPASO has 51 members and had established its first global representative office in Xiamen. With the ease of pandemic restrictions, ICDPASO will carry out more comprehensive and in-depth cooperation with its members based on the principle of "extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits".

Ms. WEI Qing then reported the main work results of ICDPASO in 2022. Dr. LIU Chao discussed with professors the future cooperation plan, such as jointly organizing international competitions and summit forums, cooperating in publishing reports and studies, and training international talents in rule of law together.

Prof. WANG Yi responded positively to the above plan and said that RUC will continue to help ICDPASO to become a world-renowned platform. Prof. DU Huanfang expected that ICDPASO will build a global commercial dispute prevention and settlement mechanism based on adhering to the characteristics of openness, inclusiveness, and internationalism. Prof. HUANG Wenyi said that the RUC Law School will make every effort to push forward the cooperation plan and promote implementation. Prof. YE Lin agreed with the development concept of ICDPASO and expressed his strong support for the new business of this new “international neutral third party” organization. Prof. HAN Liyu believed that based on ICDPASO meets the needs of the times and the cooperation plan between the two parties reflected that as a new organization had broad horizons, ICDPASO will have unprecedented accomplishments under the new era and new conditions. Prof. PENG Xiaolong said that the cooperation plan reflects magnificent projects designed by a giant, and he will study and implement it seriously. Prof. ZHANG Wenliang thought that through this meeting, he could foresee the cooperation prospect, and there are more paths and spaces for in-depth cooperation between the RUC and ICDPASO.

Dr. LIU Chao appreciated the support of RUC. He pointed out that it is the members who give ICDPASO vitality because they play a significant role in the platform building, decision making, and rule establishment. He looks forward to in-depth cooperation in the future where will achieve resource sharing, information sharing, and result sharing between ICDPASO and members. ICDPASO will try its best to complete the work efficiently and pragmatically, build international cooperation and exchange platforms with members, and contribute its energy and wisdom to build a better global governance system.
