The Law Society of Singapore (LSS) and the Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) held an online video meeting

On December 5, 2022, Mr. Adrian Tan, President of The Law Society of Singapore (LSS), Mr. Gregory Vijayendran SC, Chairperson of International Relations Committee of LSS, held an online video meeting with the Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO).

 

Ms. CUI Tong, staff of ICDPASO Secretariat, briefed the LSS on the development of the ICDPASO since its establishment two years ago and the progress it has made in providing dispute prevention and resolution services to global business entities. Ms. WEI Qing, Director of the Department of General Affairs of ICDPASO Secretariat, reviewed the cooperation between the two sides and expected the future cooperation between the two sides. She expressed the hope that the LSS would work more closely with the ICDPASO in the future and to provide more professional public legal services to the global business community.

 

Mr. Adrian Tan, President of The Law Society of Singapore (LSS), Mr. Gregory Vijayendran SC, Chairpersonof International Relations Committee of LSS, congratulated the ICDPASO on its achievements in the past two years and highly praised the efficient work of ICDPASO. Mr. Adrian Tan expressed that LSS is looking forward to cooperating with ICDPASO in more aspects such as official website promotion and expert recommendation. During the meeting, Mr. Gregory Vijayendran SC once again highly recognized the concept of dispute prevention initiated by ICDPASO. He noted that, as the only international organization in the world that integrates commercial dispute prevention and resolution legal services, ICDPASO will definitely contribute strength and wisdom in fully participating in global governance. In the future, LSS is willing to work with ICDPASO to jointly build a diversified international commercial dispute resolution mechanism. In addition, he also put forward practical suggestions on legal professional recommendation and optimization of official website pages to ICDPASO.

 

Dr. LIU Chao, Secretary General of ICDPASO, responded positively to Mr. Adrian Tan and Mr. Gregory Vijayendran SC’s willingness of cooperation. He indicated that dispute prevention is the characteristics of dispute settlement organizations. On the basis of existing achievements, we will continue to carry forward the concept of dispute prevention and continue to advance our work on dispute prevention; and maintain an open mind to cooperate with mediation centers, arbitration centers and other dispute resolution institutions in the global including the Southeast Asia. He said that in the future, ICDPASO will further promote the construction of the dispute prevention mechanism, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with LSS in various aspects such as talent recommendation and high-end forums, and actively explore a suitable presence of ICDPASO in the Asia-Pacific region to better assist the Asia-Pacific region in establishing a law-based, internationalized and facilitated business environment.
