The 3rd Belt and Road Commercial Law (The Yellow River) Forum Was Successfully held in Lanzhou

On July 7, 2022, the 3rd Belt and Road Commercial Law (The Yellow River) Forum was successfully held during the 28th China Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair in Lanzhou, Gansu Province of China. HE Wei, Vice Governor of Gansu Provincial People's Government, and KE Liangdong, Member of CPC Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) addressed the forum at the opening ceremony.

 

The forum is co-hosted by the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO), the CCPIT, and the People’s Government of Gansu Province of China, and is jointly organized by the Secretariat of ICDPASO, Department of Legal Affairs of CCPIT, CCPIT GANSU Provincial Committee, Chamber of International Commerce Gansu Province, and Gansu University of Political Science and Law. Academics and renowned legal experts from 20 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, and over 250 guests from business, judiciary, arbitration, lawyers, universities, enterprises and other industries attended the forum.

 

With the theme of "Legal Risk Prevention and Diversified Dispute Resolution on International Commerce", this forum will focus on the legal protection of enterprises "going aboard", guiding enterprises to scientifically prevent and resolve international investment and trade risks, resolve cross-border commercial disputes in a diversified manner, and provide legal support for international operations of enterprises.

 

HUANG Jin, President of China Society of International Law (Member of ICDPASO Council), President of China Society of Private International Law (Member of ICDPASO Supervisory Committee), former President and Professor of the China University of Political Science and Law (Member of ICDPASO Advisory Committee), Vitaly Mankevich, President of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs ( Member of ICDPASO Advisory Committee), LI Yuji, President of Gansu University of Political Science and Law, Council Member of China Law Society, Vice President of the Legislation Research Society of China Law Society, and Jorge Neto Valente, President of the Macau Lawyers Association (Member of ICDPASO Supervisory Committee), delivered keynote speeches in person or on pre-recorded videos.

 

LIU Jingdong, Director of International Economic Law Department, the Institute for International Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Member of the International Commercial Expert Committee of the Supreme People's Court, TAN Jian, Secretary General of China Academy of Arbitration Law (Member of ICDPASO Supervisory Committee), Katherine CHEUNG, Partner of Dorsey & Whitney LLP, Nur Azni Aziz, Director of Chengdu Representative Office of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, XIE Bingxuan, Principal Solicitor of Tianshui HUATIAN Electronics Group Co., Ltd, Arbitrator of Tianshui Arbitration Commission, Mohammad Saiyedul Islam, Representative of Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry extensively discussed the topics and expressed their opinions in the panel session.

 

MA Xueli, Chairman of CCPIT GANSU Provincial Committee, and WANG Hua, Professor of Law School of Silk Road of Gansu University of Political Science and Law presided over the opening ceremony and panel discussion respectively. LIU Chao, Director General of Department of Legal Affairs of CCPIT, Secretary-General of ICDPASO presided over the sessions of Announcement of Achievements, keynote speeches and delivered the closing remarks.

 

In addition, the forum also released the latest books of the 2nd batch of Legal Research Series of Countries Along the Belt and Road, and Promoted CCPIT Cross-border Trade and Investment Legal Service (CTILS), to help enterprises understand the laws and regulations of countries along the Belt and Road, provide comprehensive legal support for cross-border trade and investment for enterprises to "going aboard".

 

ICDPASO will continue to actively explore ways to prevent and resolve diversified commercial disputes, and build an international platform for the exchange of legal services, to devote to the development of the BRI commercial legal system and optimize the international rule of law business environment.
